Company Profile

The Tobacco Board is the first parastatal body ever set up in Mauritius under the Tobacco Production and Marketing Ordinance of 1930. Its main function is to control the production and sale of tobacco in the Republic of Mauritius.

Tobacco Board operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Agro-Industry & Food Security.

The main stakeholders are namely the British American Tobacco, registered tobacco growers and importers of tobacco products.

The first edition of the Tobacco Board's website was launched on November 2003 by Hon. P. K. Jugnauth, then Minister of Agriculture, Food Technology & Natural Resources. 

This new website was presented on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Board held on 12 July 2007 in the presence of Hon. Dr A. Boolell, Minister of Agro-Industry & Fisheries and Hon M. Dulloo, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Cooperation.
